The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) X launched last December 14 the Regional Socioeconomic Analysis and Research Center (RESEARCH-X), a database system of key economic and social statistical information that covers four major sectors namely: macro, social, economic and infrastructure.
Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Mae Ester T. Guiamadel of NRO X welcomed some 40 participants representing the media, members from the Regional Association of Government Communicators (RAGCOM), Regional Statistics Committee, and the academe. “The system is intended to provide a better platform for easy access of frequently requested regional and local socioeconomic data,” ARD Guiamadel said.
Engineer Cecilio Y. Clarete of the Development Research Division also of the NRO X, briefed the participants on how the database works. He said that at present it is accessible only at the NRO X RESEARCH Center.
The launching was followed by a briefing on Ambisyon Natin 2040 and the third quarter 2016 regional economic situation. The data generally showed a positive performance especially of the agriculture sector due to strong recovery from the effects of El Nino.
The activity was capped with a fellowship as a way of strengthening relations with development partners, especially with the media.
