The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) VI briefed the teachers and students of West Visayas State University (WVSU) and Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISATU), respectively, on AmBisyon Natin 2040 last November 28 held at the WVSU and ISATU campuses.
The forums were intended to motivate the youth to actively participate in the attainment of sustainable development for the country. A total of 310 participants from both universities were oriented by the NRO VI on the collective long-term vision and aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country for the next 25 years.
Assistant Regional Director Atty. Raul S. Anlocotan of NRO VI presented the overview on AmBisyon Natin 2040. He stressed that academe and the youth play a crucial role in the realization of Ambisyon Natin 2040. He also said that Ambisyon Natin 2040 will serve as an anchor for development planning across four administrations.
He reiterated that President Rodrigo R. Duterte adopted AmBisyon Natin 2040 by virtue of Executive Order No. 5 and that the vision can also be achieved through the implementation of the 0+10 Socioeconomic Agenda of the present administration.
In terms of current efforts in Western Visayas, Ma. Teresa G. Guadalupe of the NRO VI, discussed the ongoing activities of NEDA in the formulation of the Western Visayas Regional Development Plan 2017-2022. She also discussed the role of NEDA in ensuring that AmBisyon Natin 2040 is shared and understood by people across all sectors for a unified development direction for the region.
Present at the WVSU forum were Dean of the Office of Student Affairs Dr. Nancy Surmieda, Dr. Gerard Penecilla and Professor Efrain Areno of the College of Arts and Sciences. Meanwhile, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Manuel Sanchez Jr., Dean of Office of the Student Affairs Dr. Susan Marie Dela Cruz, among others were present at the ISATU forum.
