The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) XI launched Ambisyon Natin 2040 at a multi-stakeholder summit on Ambisyon Natin 2040 recently at the Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City. The theme of the summit was “Ambisyon Mo, Misyon Nating Lahat.”
The event was attended by around 250 participants comprising of the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI members, local chief executives, development planning coordinators, representatives of national government agencies, civil society, nongovernment organizations, academe, and business groups, public and private media practitioners and basic sector representatives from the youth, indigenous people or IP and persons with disabilities.
According to NRO XI Regional Director Maria Lourdes Lim, the event was conducted to promote widespread awareness on the long-term vision and to generate support for its realization. The outputs generated during the event shall be used as inputs in the formulation of the successor Regional Development Plan or RDP.
Meanwhile, NEDA Assistant Secretary Carlos Bernardo Abad Santos presented the highlights of the results of the AmBisyon Natin 2040 study conducted by the NEDA in 2015. In his presentation, the Assistant Secretary said that Filipinos aspire for a “matatag, maginhawa at panatag na buhay para sa lahat” or a strongly-rooted, comfortable and secure life for all.
During the event, resource persons shared their best practices in their respective areas that can help achieve the Ambisyon Natin 2040. Among the resource persons were Governor Anthony del Rosario of Davao del Norte, Director Pamela Salvan of the OPAPP and President of the Davao Tourism Association (DATA) Gatchi Gatchalian. In his talk, Gatchi Gatchalian stressed that having a simple and comfortable life as desired by Filipinos is highly attainable based on his experiences as a businessman from humble beginnings. He emphasized that a good life does not come without sacrifice. Thus, he said that embracing risks and challenges are part of the journey to success.
Meanwhile, a workshop was also conducted at the event that provided participants the opportunity to think about their possible contributions to achieve AmBisyon Natin 2040. They also inked their commitment in helping achieve the vision by signing on the AmBisyon Natin 2040 pledge wall that was put up by the NRO XI.
