The NEDA Regional Office in Eastern Visayas (NRO VIII) briefed Saint Paul School of Professional Studies (SPSPS) Alumni, staff and students on AmBisyon Natin 2040, the Philippine Development Plan (PDP), and the Eastern Visayas Regional Development Plan (EV-RDP) for 2017-2022. The event was held recently in Campetic, Palo, Leyte.
In his message, NRO VIII Regional Director (RD) Atty. Bonifacio G. Uy emphasized the importance of having the SPSPS onboard in the campaign to broaden the public’s awareness on the long-term vision of Filipinos or Ambisyon Natin 2040 and on the PDP and EV-RDP.
He also highlighted the achievements of the SPSPS as one of the region’s private higher education institutions including the significance of the academe in achieving the national and regional development goals as outlined in the PDP and EV-RD, respectively.
Meanwhile, SPSPS President Dr. Erwin Vincent G. Alcala expressed his appreciation to NRO VIII personnel for recognizing the contribution of the SPSPS and for advocating the important vision and plans in their institution.
SPSPS Professor Dr. Edmundo F. Gariando sits in the Regional Development Council in Eastern Visayas (RDC VIII), as private sector representative (PSR) for the academe sector.
Development Research Division Chief Jam M. Colas of NRO VIII, on the other hand, presented the AmBisyon Natin 2040, 2017-2022 PDP and EV-RDP and pointed out the region’s development challenges and what can be done to develop and realize the vision of Filipinos.
There will be four medium-term development plans that will be implemented from 2017 to 2040. “The achievement of the 2017-2022 development goals through the current PDP and RDP will bring the Filipino nearer to the realization of AmBisyon Natin 2040 – Maginhawa, Matatag at Panatag na Buhay Para sa Lahat,” she added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Alcala and Dr. Gariando awarded a plaque of appreciation to NRO VIII. The award was received by RD Uy and Colas.
