Regional Director (RD) Maria Lourdes Lim of the NEDA Regional Office in Davao (NRO XI) urged finance management students to support the country’s Philippine Development Plan (PDP) and AmBisyon Natin 2040 during the 2017 Financial Literacy Caravan hosted by the Junior Confederation of Finance Associations-Philippines (JCFAP)-Davao Chapter on October 7 at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City.
With the topic on “The Role of the Youth in Socioeconomic Development”, Lim urged the youth to contribute to economic growth by being active drivers of change in their communities and help build a safer and more progressive Davao region. This is through participation in policy-making and program implementation for the reduction of poverty and pursuit of rapid economic growth.
“You are the country’s valuable assets, given your strong determination, high energy and deep-seated motivation that can be harnessed for technological advancement and overall national growth,” RD Lim said. She added that youths are both beneficiaries of development programs and projects, and are social actors for change and progress.
Around 1,300 students and teachers from Davao attended the event.
Lim was the only resource person from the public sector that was able to attend the event. Other speakers were prominent leaders from the private sector and the academe, who talked about entrepreneurship, savings, investments, career and job promotion, and the academic curriculum.
The JCFAP is the national umbrella organization for associations of financial management students composed of 135 finance schools all over the country.
