The MIMAROPA Regional Development Council (RDC) during its Full Council meeting last March 3, endorsed the 2018 priority programs, projects and activities (PPAs) of 36 agency regional offices (AROs) and six state universities and colleges (SUCs) amounting to PHP88 billion.
MIMAROPA RDC Chairmanperson and Palawan Governor Jose C. Alvarez presided over the meeting. It was attended by Oriental Mindoro Governor Alfonso V. Umali, Jr., Occidental Mindoro Governor Mario Gene J. Mendiola, Romblon Governor Eduardo C. Firmalo, Calapan City Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan, Puerto Princesa City Mayor Luis M. Marcaida III, Boac Marindique Mayor Roberto M. Madla, Mamburao Occidental Mindoro Mayor Angelina F. Tria, Narra Palawan Mayor Lucena D. Demaala, 2nd district of Palawan Congressman Frederick F. Abueg, 3rd district of Palawan Congressman Gil P. Acosta, Kabayan Partylist Representative Harry L. Roque, Jr., directors and representatives of regional line agencies, private sector representatives, local government units, and SUCs.
The proposed PPAs are consistent with the regional development investment program (RDIP) approved by the RDC and supportive of the region’s development priorities. It is also responsive to the current regional development plan, strategic regional development agenda, the long term vision or AmBisyon Natin 2040), 0-10 Point Socioeconomic Agenda, and Sustainable Development Goals.
In the 2018 budget proposal, the infrastructure sector has the biggest share at PHP39.51 million followed by the economic sector with PHP32.16 million, the social sector with PHP15.92 million and the development administration sector with PHP855,618.74.
The AROs included provision for the establishment of regional offices in the designated government center as required under Republic Act No. 10879 or the MIMAROPA Act.
The 2018 agency budget proposal will be endorsed to the respective agency central offices for inclusion in their 2018 budget proposals.
