The Bicol Regional Development Council (RDC V) approved the advocacy plan for the Bicol Regional Development Plan (RDP) and Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022, and the Ambisyon Natin 2040. The advocacy plan aims to raise awareness, promote commitment and encourage participation of various stakeholders in the region as development partners.
The activities identified in the advocacy plan include the following: (a) creation of an adhoc committee on advocacy; (b) production of advocacy materials; (c) organization and training of an inter-agency and multi-sectoral pool of speakers; (d) conduct of advocacy caravans; and (e) advertisements through quad-media.
The adhoc committee chairperson and vice chairperson are Regional Director (RD) Agnes M. Espinas of the NEDA Regional Office (NRO) V and RD Aida Naz of the Philippine Information Agency V, respectively. The members are representatives from the Departments of Education, Health, Social Welfare and Development, Trade and Industry, Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources, Public Works and Highways, and Interior and Local Government; Commission on Education; provincial planning and development offices; and private sector representatives of the RDC.
Meanwhile, the adhoc committee on advocacy conducted its first meeting on March 8 and discussed the following: (a) creation of an inter-agency and multi-sectoral pool of speakers; (b) production of advocacy materials; (c) implementation of the 2017 committee work plan; and (d) adoption of strategies for high-impact advocacy. The members of the pool of speakers will be finalized during the next meeting of the adhoc committee on March 31.
