The NEDA Regional Office (NRO) X launched Ambisyon Natin 2040 in Cagayan de Oro City last November 21 and 22 for business, industry, youth and academe sectors.
NRO X Regional Director Leon M. Dacanay, Jr. talked about Ambisyon Natin 2040 at the event. He shared that Ambisyon Natin 2040 is a vision, not a plan, and shall serve as an anchor for development planning across at least four administrations. “It details the collective long-term vision and aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country for the next 25 years. These aspirations resulted from 42 focus groups discussions with various sectors, including the marginalized groups, and community surveys commissioned by the NEDA,” he added.
Assistant Director Bien A. Ganapin of the National Policy and Planning Staff, NEDA Central office, was the event’s guest speaker. In his speech, he elaborated on the challenges the country is facing in realizing the vision. He also emphasized the need for strong ownership by the stakeholders and leaders over the next 25 years. “While needs and preferences may change over time and unexpected developments may arise, with the right policies, the Philippines can become a high-income country where poverty can be eradicated by 2040, if not sooner,” he added.
In the open forum, the participants expressed appreciation for NEDA’s initiative in crafting Ambisyon Natin 2040 and also voiced their support towards sustaining the effort across administrations and realizing the Ambisyon Natin 2040 vision.
The activity was attended by around 180 participants from various organizations from different parts of the region.
