The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) held the AmBisyon Natin 2040 Expo for the Negros Island Region (NIR) in Bacolod City last November 24.
Concurrent NEDA-NIR Regional Director Efren Carreon called for support on the AmBisyon Natin 2040 in his opening remarks, while Development Information Staff Director Nerrisa Esguerra presented the next steps, especially on how to translate the vision into action, during her keynote message.
In the panel discussion, Bacolod City Administrator John Orola, Philippine Chamber of Commerce Regional Convener Frank Carbon, University of St. La Salle President Manuel Pajarillo, and Mark Steven Mayo from the Office of Representative Greg Gasataya discussed their impressions, insights, and the implications of AmBisyon Natin 2040 to their respective work and sectors.
They acknowledged the importance of having a long-term vision for the Philippines and said that AmBisyon is aligned with their goals, missions, and activities.
Leaders and representatives from various sectors in the region also shared their practical knowledge and experience in attaining Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay.
Ten government agencies in NIR also set up booths and gave presentations that showcased their services. These were the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Education, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Social Security System , Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Science and Technology, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
