GLOBE Telecom Inc. has partnered with the city governments of Cebu and Manduae to roll out fiber facilities in the two cities.
The collaboration with the two local government units (LGUs) paved the way for the deployment of 18 Globe-at-Home Fibre sites in Cebu.
Works in Mandaue are currently under way.
The company is strengthening its partnership with the LGUs, “recognizing that local officials’ support is essential in realizing its goal of enhancing connectivity to boost economic development in the country”.
Aside from its fixed-line facilities, Globe is also working to improve its mobile network.
The company also continues to improve its mobile services in the province with close to 600 LTE sites available.
Earlier this year, the company announced its ambition to put up 400,000 broadband lines all over the country by the end of 2017.
The province of Cebu has an immense population of 2.9 million excluding the numbers from its highly urbanized cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed.
