The NEDA regional office in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) briefed around 150 economics students from the University of the Philippines Baguio, Saint Louis University, Pangasinan State University, and Central Luzon State University during the Academic Convention in Economics 2017 held on April 23 at the Pines View Hotel, Baguio City. The convention was organized by the UP Baguio Economics Society.
With the theme: Crafting Towards National Development: The Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 as a Primary Step in Attaining AmBisyon Natin 2040, the event was held for economics students to gain insights from experts regarding current trends and economic issues besetting the country.
Aside from AmBisyon Natin 2040 and the PDP that were presented by NEDA CAR personnel, the roles of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Implementation of the PDP and support of the United Nation Development Programme to the PDP, were also discussed.
During the open forum, the participants sought for more information regarding national policies being brought down to the region. They also asked about existing indicators for the “malasakit” component and more information on disaster risk reduction and mitigation strategies under the Plan.
