Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Dionisio C. Ledres Jr., of the NEDA Regional Office (NRO) VII presented the Ambisyon Natin 2040 during the Visayas Health Summit held at Bohol Tropics Resort in Tagbilaran City last March 22.
The Summit, organized by the Department of Health (DOH) with the theme “MHO at CHO: Katuwang sa PHAgbabago”, was attended by officials from the DOH central and regional offices in the Visayas and by municipal and city health officers.
The Ambisyon Natin presentation was a fitting introduction to the video presentation on the Philippine Health Agenda dubbed “12 Legacies of the DOH”, delivered by Secretary of Health Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial.
In his presentation, ARD Ledres explained the need for, and the process involved in the crafting of the country’s long-term vision or Ambisyon Natin 2040. He said that per the results of the consultations and survey, Filipinos aspire for a prosperous middle class society where no one is poor, where they will enjoy long and healthy, comfortable and secure lives, and live close to their families.
Ledres also highlighted the important role of the DOH and its attached agencies and corporations in ensuring a healthy and resilient society. He pointed out that the right health sector interventions will ensure that the country will benefit from its “demographic dividend” where its high working age population are healthy and productive, contributing to the country’s economic development.
Meanwhile, Undersecretary Dr. Roger P. Tong-an of the DOH Health Service Development, and Regional Director Dr. Jaime S. Bernandas of DOH VII, presented Ledres with a certificate of appreciation after his presentation.
