Regional Director (RD) Efren B. Carreon of the NEDA Regional Office (NRO) VII gave a comprehensive briefing on Ambisyon Natin 2040 to the media and members of the Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO7) last December 28. The event was held at the Ecotech Conference Center, Sudlon Lahug, Cebu City.
Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Dionisio C. Ledres Jr., on the other hand, presented the Cebuano version of the key messages of the Ambisyon Natin 2040. He also challenged the media and AGIO7 members to echo the Ambisyon Natin 2040 to their respective offices, and to be part of the dissemination and buy-in efforts of Ambisyon Natin 2040.
At the event, the representatives of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) VII and AGIO7 expressed their willingness to work closely with NRO VII to further disseminate the long-term vision in 2017.
RD Carreon and ARD Ledres also responded to the questions and concerns of the audience. Among the concerns from the media were how government will tackle, through appropriate strategies, the poverty in the rural and urban areas as well as how to effectively monitor interagency efforts to ensure that the holistic approach of Ambisyon Natin 2040 is realized.
The NRO VII officials also briefed the members of the Regional Development Research Council (RDRC) on Ambisyon Natin 2040 last December 13. The RDRC is composed of higher education institutions or HEIs, state universities and colleges (SUCs), and select government agencies that agreed to cooperate with NRO VII in steering the region’s research activities to improve the region’s socioeconomic conditions through relevant and effective development policies, programs, and projects. The RDRC is chaired by the NRO RD with the University of San Carlos and Commission on Higher Education VII as co-chairs.
